Other benefits include:

Bullhead Area Chamber and Laughlin Chamber Providing networking and relationship building opportunities for our members and the community.

Benefit Card Program lets chamber members get discounts on both health and lifestyle services.

Businesses often have different concerns. However, one concern is universal: we all want access to quality and affordable health care. We are reminded of this issue when talking to business owners, employers, employees and through the media on a daily basis. The issue comes closer to home for Chamber leadership as we monitor legislation centered on the cost of health care.

Today, it's much tougher for businesses to offer a comprehensive health insurance program that allows us all access to quality health care. The cost of providing insurance to employees is a large financial responsibility for any company.

To help ease the pain, the Laughlin and Bullhead Area Chambers of Commerce partnered with the America's Schools Program to enable its members to participate in the National Benefit Card Program.

The program was submitted to both Chamber Boards with unanimous approval from both Board of Directors within the last 30 days.

The America's Schools Program is a nonprofit providing support to local schools. The program works under the auspices of the parent teacher associations, State School Boards Association, Chambers of Commerce and community-minded businesses throughout the country. By aggregating the purchasing power of hundreds of thousands of consumers nationwide, they enable our members to take advantage of deeply discounted rates, usually reserved for only insurance companies and health care plans.

A portion of the monthly fees paid for the National Benefit Card Program goes to support local K-12 schools.

The program is a value-added benefit of a Laughlin and Bullhead Area Chamber membership, and will likely be offered by other groups as well.

The program offers discounts on visits to primary and specialty physicians, labs, diagnostic tests, X-rays, and hospital negotiation services. Savings of up to 50 percent can be had at more than 400,000 locations across the country.

Other benefits include:

Dental: Access to over 73,000 providers nationwide and up to 50 percent discounts.

Vision: Up to 35 percent discounts on glasses, contacts, eye exams, and Lasik surgery.

Chiropractic savings: $30 adjustments and up to 50-percent savings on other services.

Pharmacy discounts and more.

The program also provides discounts on lifestyle needs such as hotels, restaurants, movies and oil changes.

It's affordable. Participants in the National Benefit Card Program pay a one-time enrollment fee of $15 and a monthly payment of $20. Best of all, you can cancel it at any time. Unlike other single benefit card programs this National Benefit Card Program covers up to six members of the family.

It's an excellent way for chamber member employers to supplement the cost of recently reduced health insurance programs. Or the program can serve as an option for employees and businesses that have had to cut health insurance altogether.

The program also allows employees, co-workers and family members of chamber members to take ownership of their own health management.

Because this isn't an insurance product, there are no limitations, waiting periods or exclusions. Members simply make an appointment, show their membership ID cards and pay the discounted amount when services are provided.

Steve Muell, Chairman of the Board for the Bullhead Area Chamber says, “It has long been the Chamber’s commitment to provide our members added value and benefits such as a viable health care option that a Benefit Card Program provides. The additional benefits are numerous and the end result is that through this program we can provide additional financial support to our local schools.”

Laughlin Chamber of Commerce; Nathan Michaels, Chamber Board President says, “Bringing our members and their employees and families a credible and valuable health care option is a commitment the Laughlin Chamber feels strongly about.

We also feel strongly about the importance of education and are proud to be the second Nevada organization to launch this program, that not only benefits our members, but supports our local schools.”
